“Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.”~ Vince Lombardi
Every now and then, you’ll hear sportscasters for example speak about the perfect score, the perfect pass, the perfect shot and so on.
Yes, we might get results that we could describe as perfect but I personally think that perfection should never be the goal.
The challenge with perfectionism is that it is always out of reach but always asking for outcomes that are virtually impossible to achieve. Sono matter what you do,it will never be enough.
You could move mountains and perfection is going to say, “Nope! Not quite there yet.”
Excellence on the other hand—giving your absolute best effort possible, is a far more reasonable and achievable goal.
Excellence focuses on what’s right.
It doesn’t worry so much about what’s not working. It keeps your attention on what’s going well.
It keeps you focused on the actions you can take to make things even better; making it possible for you to strive for and to reach greater levels of excellence. Thus making excellence something that is limitless and progressive.
The bottom line is that you can never truly be perfect but you can always, always be excellent.
This has been a keep on pushing moment.
